We've been following some individual stories...
We believe this goose was rescued just a few weeks ago (January 16th to be exact) from Liberty Park. According to the Mid Ohio Waterfowl Facebook page, there were a flock of domestic geese at Liberty Park who were attacked by loose dogs. Many were killed, but this gander was one of the lucky few who survived. Lisa picked him up and took him back to her rescue where, despite knowing that he was a victim of a dog attack and suffering from numerous injuries, he did not receive any medical care from a veterinarian.
Dog mouths are full of dangerous bacteria that will quickly cause a bird to go into septic shock without aggressive antibiotic treatment, and a rehabber as experienced as Lisa claims to be surely would know this.
But this goose did not see a vet. He was not even properly quarantined, because only seven days after his rescue Lisa posted a video on the Mid Ohio Waterfowl Facebook page of her releasing him onto her pond into the general population. He survived only three days there, before perishing along the bank of the pond...
where he laid for FIVE days.
Is this rescue? Is this what this goose deserved?
